Saad, Omair and Saqib Set Up Dominant Karachi Victory Over Multan

Islamabad: Karachi Blues continued their impressive run in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025-26 with a commanding victory over Multan at the Marghzar Ground, registering their first win of the season in emphatic fashion.

After bowling out Multan for 260 in the first innings, Karachi responded strongly with the bat, amassing 433, thanks to superb centuries from Saad Baig and Omair Bin Yousuf. The pair’s monumental 262-run stand for the second wicket laid the foundation for Karachi’s dominance in the four-day fixture.

Saad Baig, who has been in sublime form, led the charge with a magnificent 154, mixing patience with stroke-play to anchor the innings. Omair Yousuf matched his partner’s brilliance, scoring a fluent 137, his second significant knock of the season. Despite Faisal Akram’s five-wicket haul (5 for 120) for Multan, Karachi secured a commanding 173-run lead.

Multan’s first innings had been anchored by ArfatMinhas (77) and Waqar Hussain (50), but regular breakthroughs from Karachi’s bowlers prevented a substantial total. Sadib Khan and Ramiz Aziz bagged two wickets each to keep the visitors in check.

In the second innings, Saqib Khan produced a match-winning spell, finishing with 6 for 62 as Multan were dismissed for 272. Sharoon Siraj fought hard with a valiant 96, but lacked support from the other end.

Karachi chased down the 100-run target comfortably with seven wickets to spare, as Saad Baig once again led from the front with an unbeaten 66, capping off a memorable all-round performance for his side.

Saqib Khan also stood out as a key all-round contributor — his quickfire 54 off 30 balls in the first innings added crucial lower-order runs, and his eight wickets across the match underscored his growing importance in Karachi’s setup.

With this victory, Karachi Blues have announced themselves as serious contenders in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
