Shan Masood Creates History in First-Class Cricket

Karachi: Shan Masood rewrote Pakistan’s domestic cricket record books on a remarkable opening day of the President’s Trophy 2025-26, smashing the fastest double century in First-Class cricket history in Pakistan.

Representing SNGPL against Sahir Associates in Round 1, Shan reached his double hundred in just 177 balls, setting a new benchmark in Pakistan First-Class cricket.

The left-handed opener eventually scored a majestic 216 off 200 deliveries, studded with 28 fours and two sixes, in an innings that combined relentless intent with classical strokeplay.

Shan’s double hundred eclipsed the long-standing record held by Inzamam-ul-Haq, who had reached the milestone in 188 balls back in 1992, previously the fastest double century by a Pakistani in First-Class cricket.

It also surpassed the fastest double hundred ever recorded in Pakistan, set by India’s Virender Sehwag, who had taken 182 balls to reach 200 during his famous 309 in Multan in 2006.

The innings was Shan Masood’s 33rd First-Class century, further cementing his reputation as one of Pakistan’s most prolific run-scorers in red-ball cricket.

His ability to shift gears without compromising technique was on full display, as he consistently pierced gaps and punished loose deliveries across all parts of the ground.

Batting at the top of the order, Shan set the tone early for SNGPL, dismantling the Sahir Associates attack with authority and precision.

The President’s Trophy has long been a proving ground for Pakistan’s elite red-ball players, and Shan Masood’s record-breaking double century will be remembered as one of the competition’s most extraordinary feats.
