Karachi’s cricketers have made a strong early impression in the President’s Trophy 2025–26, delivering standout performances across the first three rounds of Pakistan’s premier first-class tournament despite mixed results for their respective teams.
Fast bowler Muhammad Hamza Sohail produced one of the most dramatic spells of the season while representing Sahir Associates, turning a near-certain defeat into a remarkable victory.
Defending a small target, Sahir Associates needed inspiration with the opposition requiring just seven runs with three wickets in hand.
Hamza Sohail delivered exactly that, removing all three batters in a single over to seal a sensational win. Earlier in the match, he claimed 2 for 50 in 8.3 overs in the first innings before returning with 6 for 72 in 16 overs in the second, finishing with eight wickets in a match-defining performance.
Another Karachi pacer, Mir Hamza, continued his reputation as one of the most reliable red-ball bowlers in domestic cricket. Playing for Ghani Glass, Mir Hamza claimed nine wickets against PTV, taking 5 for 55 in 14.4 overs in the first innings and 4 for 54 in 15.2 overs in the second to dominate proceedings. He also picked up 5 for 63 in 23 overs against State Bank, underlining his consistency across conditions.

Batters from Karachi have also enjoyed productive starts. Abdullah Fazal anchored the innings for State Bank of Pakistan with a composed 113 off 176 balls, striking 15 fours against Ghani Glass, while Ghazi Ghori produced an attacking 138 off 139 deliveries for SBP against PTV, laced with 21 fours, showcasing his ability to score quickly without relying on sixes.
Meanwhile, Haroon Arshad displayed patience and temperament for OGDCL, grinding out a resolute 104 off 210 balls against PTV, including 14 boundaries, in a match that tested endurance and technique.
Earlier in the tournament, M. Hamza Sohail (KRL) also impressed with a five-wicket haul, returning 5 for 36 in 15 overs against WAPDA, though his effort came in a losing cause.
