Ghazi Ghori Retains Spot as Pakistan Announce 16 Member Squad for Australia ODI Series

Pakistan Cricket Board have announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia, with young wicketkeeper-batter Muhammad Ghazi Ghori retaining his place in the national side.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the squad on Friday May 22, 2026 ahead of the three-match ODI series, which will be played from 30 May to 4 June in Rawalpindi and Lahore. 1st ODI is scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi on 30th while the other two will be played in Lahore on 2nd and 4th June 2026. All matches will begin at 4:30 pm local time to minimize the extreme heat factor in the day time.

Ghazi Ghori, who remains a rising prospect in the national setup has played 1 official International match for Pakistan against Bangladesh scoring 29 runs off 39 balls batting at number 3. He has once again earned the confidence of the selectors and has been named alongside Rohail Nazir as one of the two wicketkeeper-batters in the squad.

The series will be led by left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, while Salman Ali Agha has been appointed vice-captain. The squad also marks the inclusion of three possible debutants — Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas and Rohail Nazir.

Pakistan have also welcomed back several players who were dropped/rested for Bangladesh series, including Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan and Sufyan Moqim. Usman Khan who had a heroic PSL season was not considered for selection due to illness, while Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub continue their rehabilitation from injuries under the supervision of the PCB medical panel.

The national squad will gather in Islamabad on the night of 22 May before beginning preparations under the coaching staff from Saturday, 23 May. Meanwhile, the Australian team is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on 23 May and will hold training sessions at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium before the start of the series.
