The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15 member Pakistan U19 squad for the upcoming bilateral youth series in England. The team will play four Youth ODI’s and one Youth Test beginning from September 2. The only Youth test which will be a four day match will commence from 2-5th September. The 1st Youth ODI will be played on 9th of September while the last Youth ODI will conclude on 16th of September. Matches will be played in 3 different venues which are Arundel in West Sussex, Guildford in Surrey and Wormsley in Buckinghamshire. All the venues are located in Southern England.

Experienced leadership and squad core
Farhan Yousuf, a right handed middle order batter will lead the 15 member team, who captained Pakistan to the ACC U19 Asia Cup title in December last year. He returns to junior cricket as a vastly improved leader, bringing with him rich exposure from playing for Pakistan Shaheens, Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL, and extensive List A experience in the domestic circuit. Farhan was led by Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, in a successful PSL campaign that ultimately ended in a title win. This experience of winning trophies will undoubtedly boost the squad’s confidence.
The squad strikes an ideal balance, with 9 players already possessing Pakistan U19 experience, complemented by a handful of exciting new additions hungry to make their mark on the international stage.
A strategic masterclass by PCB: tackling the SENA challenge
Historically, the biggest cricketing challenge has been the transition of young players into South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia conditions. We have frequently seen highly prolific domestic performers struggle on the bouncy, swinging, and seaming tracks of these countries simply because they had never played there before. Such initial failures often damage a young player’s confidence and put a question mark over their future selection.
The PCB deserves massive credit for proactively addressing this gap. By sending the U19 squad to England, the board is ensuring that our future stars receive essential overseas exposure early in their development cycle.
Crucially, this tour is not limited to white ball cricket. The addition of a four day red ball Youth Test at Arundel Castle will play a monumental role in grooming the technical and mental discipline of these young players. This ensures that when these boys eventually step onto the senior international stage, they will not look like newcomers struggling with alien conditions; they will perform like established, well traveled international athletes.
