The Pakistan Cricket Board has officially announced the commencement of its U17 cricket tournament beginning today, April 16, 2026, and running until May 13, 2026. The tournament will feature 18 teams from 16 regions. The Karachi region will be represented by two teams: Karachi Whites U17 and Karachi Blues U17.
It’s a two-day cricket tournament during its group stage, allowing the young generation to experience multi-day cricket and develop skills and endurance before the three-day final from 11th to 13th May 2026. It’s a test for Karachi players to highlight their talent in different conditions as matches will be played in four different venues, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Peshawar, and Charsadda.
By choosing a longer, two-day format, the PCB has given an opportunity for the youngsters to develop technique, temperament and skill sets more effectively than in one-day cricket. The change in plans is part of a revised strategy to develop future national stars.
Karachi’s 30 young players will get a chance alongside a total of 270 players for a total prize pool of PKR 1.775 million, with the champion receiving PKR 1 million and the runner-up receiving half a million PKR. Individual awards include PKR 50,000 each for the best batter, bowler, wicketkeeper, and player of the final, while the player of the tournament will receive PKR 75,000. However, for these young players, the focus will be less on financial rewards and more on making the most of the opportunity to leave their mark for a bigger stage.
Karachi’s young players will be aiming to make the most of this opportunity, with best wishes for a successful campaign.
