The Regional Cricket Association Karachi celebrated a major milestone on 23rd July as Nadeem Omar was elected unopposed as President for a second term, securing another three years at the helm of Karachi cricket. Alongside him, Ali Hussain was elected as the Secretary of Karachi cricket. In a historic display of complete unity, both leaders secured a full house of 15 votes out of a total of 15 available votes. Securing 100 percent of the votes clearly shows the outright trust and confidence that the entire cricket community of Karachi has in Nadeem Omar and his vision.
Nadeem Omar first won the presidential election back in 2018. However, his journey met a major shift when the Pakistan Cricket Board changed the domestic structure from regional associations to a six team provincial system. When the traditional regional setup was effectively restored in 2023, Nadeem Omar immediately returned to continue his presidentship right from where he left off. His outstanding performance and dedication over the years are the main reasons why all voters, club members, and his panel members united to place their complete trust in him once again.
The previous tenure under Nadeem Omar has been nothing short of a golden era for Karachi cricket, completely turning around the fortunes of the region. Before his arrival, Karachi cricket faced a long dry spell, having won its last Quaid e Azam Trophy back in 2012. The region had to wait for 11 long years to taste ultimate success again. Under the strong guidance of Nadeem Omar, Karachi did not just win it once, but captured the title twice. First, Karachi Whites lifted the trophy under the captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed in 2023, and then Karachi Blues won it under the leadership of Saud Shakeel in 2025. With these recent victories, Karachi has now won this premier first class competition a record 22 times, making it the most successful region in the entire history of Pakistan domestic cricket.
Karachi also lifted the National T20 Cup in 2023 and reached the tournament final in 2026. Beyond red ball and T20 success, Karachi Whites also proved their strength in 50 over cricket by finishing as runners up in the Pakistan Cup One Day tournament. Beyond the senior level, Karachi has also dominated and won numerous national Under 19 tournaments, ensuring a steady stream of young players.
Apart from on field victories, Nadeem Omar completely modernized how Karachi cricket is perceived. Today, the Karachi region has a massive and vibrant presence across all major social media platforms, keeping fans and players engaged in a way that never existed before his tenure. This modern approach and an endless list of achievements paved the way for his unopposed victory.
Furthermore, because of this consistent and outstanding performance, the entire domestic cricket system now views the Karachi region with immense respect. Karachi enters every national tournament as a strong favorite to win, which stands as a clear proof of the region’s top quality setup. Under this leadership, Karachi has become a major pipeline for the national team, successfully sending many brilliant young talents to represent Pakistan. With the renewed focus on grooming new players at the grass root level, Karachi is fully prepared to produce even more skilled cricketers to serve Pakistan in the coming days.
The entire election process on July 23, 2026, took place in a very peaceful, smooth, and transparent environment. Right after the announcement of the official results, Nadeem Omar expressed his deepest gratitude to the Karachi cricket fraternity for showing such immense trust and confidence in him.
Looking ahead, both Nadeem Omar and Ali Hussain have strongly renewed their commitment to working at the grass root level. They emphasized that merit and transparency will remain the top priorities for Karachi cricket. Both leaders expressed their desire to work hand in hand with all stakeholders to make Karachi cricket stronger, more organized, and highly progressive. The general belief within the community is that with Nadeem Omar back in charge, Karachi cricket is now destined to fly even higher.
